A Bit More About Me

I work for Oracle in the Coherence Engineering Team. I have been building data grid systems based on Oracle Coherence for a number of companies since 2005 and joined Oracle in November 2013. My background is in software design and development, which I have been doing professionally since 1990. Since 1999 I have been pretty much solidly developing in Java, with a small amount of other things thrown in now and again.

I am a regular at the London Oracle Coherence SIG, which I have presented at a few times, and poster on the Oracle Coherence forums. I contributed to the design of the security functionality that was released with Oracle Coherence 3.6.

After school and college I spent a few years in the Royal Navy, where I did an engineering apprenticeship. After a couple more electronics based jobs I eventually moved into software engineering in 1990. My first development job was using IBM mainframe COBOL, which I did for about 5 years. Next I moved on to a 4GL called PowerBuilder and from that on to Java. My Linked-In profile:
